Description & Services
Description of service(s) Thalidomide, a sedative prescribed to pregnant women to alleviate the symptoms associated with morning sickness, was marketed at the end of the 50’s and early 60’s, causing irreversible damage to fœtus development. More than a hundred Canadians were born with severe birth defects, forever affecting their quality of life. The Thalidomide Victims Association of Canada, in addition to working with its members, took on the mandate of educating the public on the devastating consequences of this medication that remains available for other medical purposes and promote caution and vigilance with the use of any teratogenic product.
