Description of service(s) | A national bilingual association of professionally trained counsellors working in education, employment and career development, social work, business, industry, mental health, public service agencies, government and private practice. ~ Leadership and promotion of the counselling profession in Canada. ~ Exclusive educational programs, certification, and professional development and networking opportunities. ~ International professional networking to exchange ideas and best practice, provide mutual support and promote professional development. ~ Formal and informal relationships with similar health and mental health organizations in Canada and internationally. ~ Promotion of professional projects in collaboration with other associations and government departments. For Members: ~ Memberships: Professional (Regular / Student / Student Representative / Retired); Professional Certified (Regular / Student); Guest (Individual or Association); ~ Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) certification process. ~ Accreditation of counsellor education programs. ~ Continuing Education Credit (CEC) system. ~ Code of Ethics. ~ Standards of Practice for Counsellors. ~ Comprehensive professional liability insurance policies at low cost for both Professional Members and Students. ~ Exclusive benefits on home and auto group insurance in partnership with The Personal. ~ National website including a Member Portal that includes previous issues of COGNICA, employment opportunities, updates on provincial regulation, and a member’s incentive program. ~ Electronic bulletin monitored list-serv subscription. ~ Canadian Journal of Counselling and Psychotherapy (CJCP) published four times a year - up to date information on counselling research, innovative practices, and book reviews. ~ COGNICA, a quarterly newsletter about current trends in counselling in Canada. Eligibility | Ages: 100 year(s) and under Visit: https://www.ccpa-accp.ca/membership/fees-renewals/ Memberships: Professional (Regular / Student / Student Representative / Retired); Professional Certified (Regular / Student); Guest (Individual or Association); Joint Association Membership; Honorary Lifetime. ~ The courses and programs, degrees, diplomas and certificates offered by various colleges and universities are subject to the approval of CCPA. ~ Honorary Lifetime Memberships are awarded to members who have made a considerable contribution to the aims and objectives of the Association. ~ Guest Members are assessed by the Registrar or Executive Committee on a case-by-case basis in accordance with policies established by the Board of Directors from time to time. ~ Guest (Individual): Individuals who have paid the CCPA Association Membership fee and do not qualify for membership as a Voting Member and have an interest in the well-being, role and function of CCPA. ~ Guest: (Association): Any agency or organization not necessarily actively involved in counselling or a related field, but having an interest in the well-being, role and function of CCPA. |
Application | Professional Membership • Membership application form. • Proof of graduation (in the form of a copy of your degree certificate or a copy of your transcript). • Annual membership fee. Student Membership: • Membership application form. • Proof of current student status (in the form of an official transcript, a letter from your University, or using our Proof of Student Form); student ID cards are not an acceptable form of proof. • Reduced annual membership fee. Joint membership is available between CCPA and the following association: Prince Edward Island Counselling Association – Psychotherapist Counselling Chapter (PEICA-PCC) *You must be CCC certified with CCPA in order to apply for the CCPA-PEICA membership. Please apply as a Professional member, complete the certification process, then get in touch with National Office to become a PEICA member. |
