Description & Services
Cross Reference Southwest New Brunswick Transit Authority Inc.
Description of service(s) As of 2016, RuralLynx is not yet operating as a regional bus service.
The Southwest New Brunswick Transport Authority Inc. (SWNB TAI) is a new entity that formed in 2015 to establish and operate a scheduled bus service in this region. Back in 2013, a group of community leaders, recognizing the continuing need for a public transportation system to serve the Charlotte County region, formed the Charlotte County Transportation Working Group (TWG). The TWG envisioned a system that would connect the residents of incorporated (municipalities) and unincorporated areas (local service districts) with each other as well as connecting residents and visitors to the City of Saint John.
The current proposed route would take the bus on a scheduled roundtrip to St. Andrews, St. Stephen, St. George, Pennfield, Lepreau, and Saint John, twice a day. Our aim is to create public transit system that would work in conjunction with services like Charlotte Dial-a-Ride and other local taxi services. This bus will address the public transportation needs of the general public as well as people with disabilities. The bus is meant to give all residents access to basic services, employment, and social relationships. We have developed a viable business plan that is supported by professional ridership surveys/analyses, medical travel reports, as well as other studies.
