Description of service(s) | The CanSkate Program is Skate Canada’s learn to skate program and is a progression program divided into six stages with an optional seventh stage as a stepping stone from the CanSkate program to the Skate Canada Figure Skating Program What is CanSkate? CanSkate is a dynamic learn-to-skate program that focuses on fun, participation and basic skill development. Based on Sport Canada’s long term athlete development (LTAD) principles, CanSkate centers on physical literacy and the fundamental skills needed to take part in any ice sport or to skate as a recreational activity. |
Dates Program is Offered | The winter season begins October 15th, 2016 and ends March 26, 2017 (tentative) Saturday – at the Lady Beaverbrook Rink Pre-CanSkate – 9:20 to 9:50am Pre-CanSkate – 9:50 to 10:20am Pre-CanSkate – 10:20 to 10:50am CanSkate – 9:20 to 10:05 am CanSkate – 10:05 to 10:50 am Sunday – At Willie O’Ree Place Pre-CanSkate – 1:30 to 2:00 pm Pre-CanSkate – 2:00 to 2:30 pm Pre-CanSkate – 2:30 to 3:00 pm Pre-CanSkate – 3:00 to 3:30 pm CanSkate – 2:00 to 2:45 pm CanSkate – 2:45 to 3:30 pm Adult Learn to skate – 2:45 to 3:30 pm |

Eligibility | For beginners of all ages, children or adults, as well as for those wishing to improve their basic skills whether their focus be for figure skating, hockey, speed skating or just skating for fun. |
Application | Skaters must be registered for insurance reasons prior to the first skating session. Any skaters arriving at the first session without prior registration will have to wait until the second week to begin skating if there are available spaces. |
