Description & Services
Cross Reference Working 4 Change: Learn & Go
Description of service(s) Provides residents of Saint John's priority neighbourhoods with the skills and opportunities to facilitate social, political, and economic change... A leadership capacity building program.
The first phase of the program is a series of workshops over a three week period that focuses on team building, communication, and pitching ideas. In the second phase, participants have identified a project that will help improve their neighborhood(s). Working in teams with a mentor, they create a presentation to "pitch" to partners or potential funders. The third and final phase is a presentation session where teams share their project idea to potential partners/funders. Over the past 9 years a number of projects have been approved and implemented in neighborhoods including fencing around hydro tower; playground upgrades; traffic calming measures; a new bus stop; and ashtrays on hyrdo poles.
