"Education at BHS is to be an innovative, dynamic, contemporary learning experience for the development of a positive, thinking young adult with the necessary social, physical, emotional and intellectual skills to engage in our diverse and changing society." Beliefs: We believe: All students can learn. Student learning is primarily the responsibility of the student, and is shared by parents, teachers, the school system and the community. Learning takes place at different rates in different ways. Students need skills to help them succeed in the world of work, at post-secondary institutions and in a democratic society. Learning is made more meaningful when there are connections across curricula and beyond the classroom. Holistic learning requires student involvement in a variety of curricular, co-curricular and extra curricular programs. Learning occurs more readily in a safe, secure, invitational environment. Teachers must teach and model lifelong learning skills. Learning is a lifelong process. |
