Description of service(s) | The Child and Youth Advocate listens to the needs and concerns of area children and youth, ensures that their rights and interests are protected, makes sure their views are heard in the appropriate forums, investigates complaints children and youth may have about how previous situations were handled by government agencies.He also assures they have proper access to the appropriate services and continually monitor laws and policies to make sure they are not only fair to children and youth, but that they are followed properly as well. He reports on the availability, effectiveness, responsiveness and relevance of child and youth services in the community. The Child and Youth Advocate doesn't act as an advocate for the rights and interests of parents or adults or as legal counsel. Inquiries and requests for advocacy can be made to the Child and Youth Advocate in writing, by fax, over the phone, via email, or in person (by appointment). The services of the Child and Youth Advocate are free. |
