Description & Services
Cross Reference Anglophone School District - South ; Blacks Harbour School
Description of service(s) Welcome to Blacks Harbour School. Whether you are brand new to our school or a familiar face, I am pleased to be traveling along with you on your elementary school journey. I am excited and looking forward to continuing truly meaningful partnerships with our families, staff and community, so that our children will thrive both academically and socially.
Blacks Harbour School has a proud history of excellence. We have high expectations for all students in academics, behaviour, and respect for others. I feel extremely fortunate to belong to a school culture focused on student achievement, a commitment to high expectations, collaboration, and teamwork. It is my utmost intention to carry on these important traditions and practices, while helping to create a warm, caring, and safe environment where children have the opportunity to reach their highest potential. Blacks Harbour School will strive to provide instructional programs that motivate our students to become life-long learners and to improve our students’ self-esteem and confidence to become ethical citizens and leaders. I believe our students should be enthusiastic, creative thinkers who are able to use available resources and technology to solve any problems which they encounter.
Times are changing and demand put on students today is quite different than those of a few years ago. Careful planning and good relationships between home and school can make your child’s experience in school an enjoyable one for all. Success in school requires thoughtful organization and commitment from all stakeholders and attendance is a must. Researchers have noted that the most important thing we can do for our children’s education is to take an active role in their schooling.
Parents are welcomed to become involved in their child’s educational journey by participating in school events and activities. I look forward to working with parents throughout this school year. I encourage you to see yourselves as active partners in our learning community. Look for Parent School Support Committee meetings, Home and School, parent-teacher conferences, and volunteer work as opportunities to be part of our community throughout the year.
There is no doubt that when home and school work together, we can make a difference in our children’s education, and ultimately their lives. Let’s all make a commitment to give our children our very best. Feel free to contact me any time with your comments, suggestions, concerns, and compliments! Please know that I am honoured to serve you and your children at Blacks Harbour School.
