| Description of service(s) | The Fredericton Youth Hockey Association (FYHA) whose mission is to promote teamwork, leadership, player development and sportsmanship to encourage participation and provide a positive minor hockey experience is a not-for-profit minor hockey association which strives to mold the character of young men and women in the game of hockey and more importantly in the game of life. As the 2006 Hockey New Brunswick Association of the Year award winner and one of the leading associations in Canada, we give an estimated 1,100 children a chance to play and compete in the great game of hockey. Involving children in a team sport like hockey is crucial for the development of life skills, relationships, role models, and confidence. FYHA was incorporated in 1977 and recently has adopted the following purposes and objectives: To provide the opportunity for a maximum number of players to participate in physical activity, consistent with their needs and abilities, in order to develop a healthy social, emotional, and physical state. |
