Description & Services
Cross Reference Beaubears Island Intepretive Centre
Description of service(s) At the Beaubears Island Interpretive Centre, located at 35 St. Patrick's Drive in Miramichi, we offer a number of experiences. The Interpretive Centre itself offers a multi-media museum experience detailing the history of Beaubears Island and Wilson's Point. Every day at 2 pm and 6 pm visitors can take a boat ride to Beaubears Island and go back in time with a tour guide and characters, learning about life on the Island during its busiest times: the Deportation of the Acadians (1756-1760) and the shipbuilding era (1773-1866). We will be hosting a number of events throughout the summer, including a special tour on Sunday and Monday evenings entitled "Spirits of the River". The Spirits of the River tour is a completely different experience, taking the visitor back in time to Wilson's Point, where they will hear the story of one Acadian woman as she dealt with the hardships of everyday life in the winter of 1756.
