Description of service(s) | Regional services include: Managing environmental emergencies. Ensuring compliance with Departmental Acts and Regulations, through auditing inspection,investigation and enforcement. Managing environmental remediation projects. Facilitating application for permits/approvals. Providing administration of Local Service District (LSD) budgets. Overseeing solid waste collection in the LSDs. Administering dog control in the LSDs. Administering fire protection services for LSDs. The Index of the Quality of the Air (IQUA) is a service provided by the New Brunswick Department of the Environment and Local Government and is updated three times per day, seven days a week. IQUA measures the following compounds: sulphur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, ozone, and hydrogen sulphide, based on data collected from stations in Southern New Brunswick. IQUA information is available by telephone at the following numbers: in Fredericton, (506) 451-6001; in Moncton, (506) 851-6610; in Saint John, (506) 636-4991; in Miramichi, 506-773-7045; in Edmundston, 506-739-1814; in Bathurst, 506-548-3220; and in Caraquet, 506-726-5288, and through the website.
