Description & Services
Cross Reference Mobile One Soup Kitchen & Mobile Food Pantries
Description of service(s) The Mobile One project was specifically designed to provide meals in the Greater Moncton area to those in need in the evenings and on weekends. The directors, in-kitchen staff, drivers, sandwich making teams, on-board service crews and the host of others who contribute to this project are volunteers. They give a little of their time so that those who are less fortunate in our community will not go to bed hungry.

Mobile One provides a variety of services to those in need including a mobile kitchen and pantry. Mobile One is currently providing from 100 to 150 meals per day during the winter months and 150 to 300 meals per day during the summer months from the kitchen which is located 255 Halifax Street, Moncton, NB

The Indian Mountain Pantry area is at the far Northwest area of the Open Hands Territory. This pantry serves the area which includes Irishtown, Lutes Mountain, Indian Mountain, Gallagher Ridge, New Scotland, Canaan Station, St. Paul, Grayside, Dundas and Ammon Road.

The Southwest Kent Pantry which is a concession of territory from the Richibucto Food Bank territory. This pantry serves the following incorporated and unincorporated areas of Kent County - Molus River, Bass River, Fords Mills, Browns Flats, Targetville, Beersville, St. Norbert, Smith Corner, Bryants Corner, Mortimer, Harcourt, Grangeville, Adamsville, Coal Branch, and Birch Ridge

The Emergency Pantry is just as its name implies. This pantry can deliver food 365 days per year to anyone who finds themselves without food. However, the stress is on the emergency. For example, this pantry does not normally deliver food to a single individual or a couple unless they are in medical distress. Families with small children who have no food and cannot get to a food bank are considered an emergency. Elders who are in medical distress, who may have just been released from the hospital or for whom it would be a hardship for them to get to a food bank are considered an emergency.

The Medical/Shut-Ins Pantry was specifically developed for those who are patients of the specialized clinics of the City’s two hospitals such as - but not limited to - the Oncology Clinic, Heart & Stroke Clinic; Dialysis Clinic; and severe Diabetics. It also looks after those who are physically disabled and who are required to produce a doctors certificate or a certificate from either a Provincial or Federal Ministry certifying they are disabled. This pantry also looks after those who are over the age of 75; have no means of transportation except Public Transit; are living in their own houses or apartments; and, would find it difficult because of breathing or other problems to travel by Public Transit to their local Food Bank. Each client is accepted into this pantry on a case-by-case basis.
Hours Kitchen hours Monday to Friday, 1 pm-4 pm; Soup kitchen bus currently runs in the early evening hours ( 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.) Monday to and including Friday. The availability of home cooked meals on the 2nd, 3rd & 4th Sundays of the Month is provided by local Churches precludes the necessity of the Mobile One soup kitchen bus running on the weekends thus limiting the opportunities for double dipping.
