|Description of service(s)||The Kent Family Resource Centre mission is to develop a permanent bilingual centre of resources and social action for families with children from 0 to 6 years of age in Kent county.
The Kent Family Resource Centre offers the following programs:
Our Drop-in Program provides a healthy, peaceful and out-of-the ordinary environment in which parents and children can socialize, meet new friends, and organize family activities. Special activities are organized to celebrate various occasions and holidays.
Parenting Skills Workshops
This Program aims to help people who want to learn to be better parents. Some of the courses offered are:
How to talk so kids will listen
Siblings without rivalry
Different conferences and workshops
Structured activities help children entering kindergarten in the next year develop physical, mental, social and many other skills.
Tiny Pencils Club
A literacy club where parents and children learn to "be together" while making handicrafts, playing games, singing, and reading books. Parents are the activity leaders.
Aimed at families with children 3 and 4 years of age, this program offers six sessions during which they learn popular songs and are acquainted with various instruments and basic musical concepts.
A wide variety of books and videos on parenting skills as well as children’s videos can be borrowed for two weeks at a time.
